Making money with Google Adsense
We have talked about building your site and writing content but how are you going to make a revenue source? The answer to this is through advertising, you place ad units upon your website from ad channels and you get paid for the clicks on these ads. There are many companies offering this service but the most trust worthy and well know on the web is Google.
In order to be accepted to Google Adsense you need to have an acceptable website or blog with acceptable content. The main rule with goggle is not to have any illegal or adult content on your site which is not that hard to adhere to. As well as this try to have at least 10 articles and no pages under construction before you apply. Once you are happy your site applies with this you can sign up here www.google.com/adsense.
So how do you implement the ads to your site?
Once you have applied and your account has been accepted login to Adsense and click on Adsense setup. Then click on Adsense for content, at the top of the list. This will start the creation of an ad unit from here you can just follow through the screens selecting the options. The best format we have found is ad unit and to select medium rectangle, however depending where you plan to place the add unit may vary your choice of format. Select colours that fit with your site and finish through the setup. Your code will now be generated.
Using the generated code copy this and place it in your sites source code or into your blog where you would like it to display. The best location will depend on the layout of the site but you can experiment with different locations and if you want can create Adsense channels to monitor different ads and positions performance. If you need help adding the generated code to your website ask your webhost.
The key with Adsense is to be patient, probably only about 3% of those that visit the site will click the ads so to make money you are going to have to market your site and keep adding articles and content to increase page views. Once you have build up your sites search engine position and grown traffic it is possible to earn over £100 a month without any effort. Continuous work on the site will boost this further and it is possible to earn in the £1,000's through just Google Adsense.
